Union Ridge Cemetery
Preserving History, Honoring Lives
Established in 1838 and officially chartered in 1841, Union Ridge Cemetery is Chicago's oldest and most historic operating cemetery. For nearly two centuries, we have been a place of dignity, remembrance, and peace, providing a final resting place for over 15,000 individuals, including 475 veterans - 80 Civil war veterans. As a nondenominational cemetery, we honor and embrace diverse cultural and religious traditions. With historic grounds, towering centuries-old trees, and a dedicated team, we ensure every individual is remembered with respect, while preserving history and serving the community with care.
